Stars and Souls of the Liffey by Barry Delaney, signed copy.

Dubliner Barry Delaney was inspired in his teens by the colour and DIY attitude of punk, fleeing Dublin in the early ’80s to travel the world and falling in love with film photography. Twenty years later he began taking pictures again, on the streets of Dublin, his home town.
Stars and Souls of the Liffey, Dublin 2006–2016.
For 11 years Barry Delaney documented life in inner city Dublin as it went through many changes, boom to bust to boom.
“Much has changed in communities like St. Teresa’s Gardens and Sheriff Street, but the people remain its very soul, and I was lucky they allowed me in to document their lives in such a rapidly changing environment.” Barry Delaney

BARRY DELANEY
Inspired by the colour, energy and DIY attitude of punk, Barry fled the grey Dublin of the early 1980s to travel the world, and fell in love with film photography. After years of eking out a living doing various manual and technical jobs, he began taking pictures again on the streets of Dublin, his home town. In 2008, he won the TG4 Irish photographer of the 21st Century. Barry has had 5 solo exhibitions in Dublin, including his photo essay of life in modern America – Americans Anonymous.

Photography a Critical Introduction: Liz Wells
Surveying the spectrum of photography from the mid-nineteenth century to the present, Photography: A Critical Introduction is the first book to examine key debates in photographic theory and place them in their proper social and political contexts. While most histories of photography invariably focus on the works of the “great photographers,” this book is written especially to provide a coherent introduction to the nature of photographic seeing and its personal and cultural significance through history.
